How to Remember John Coppard

Please remember John Coppard and his grieving family in your prayers. John was an ardent pro-lifer, who had been fighting brain cancer. recently suffered a relapsed and, this week, died.
John was instrumental in maintaining the pro-life billboard on the Pat Bay Highway. This was erected two years ago by Victoria Right to Life after years of effort. But that organization had a mandate to close shop. John stepped in, found a new sponsor, Respect Life Ministrys at St. Andrews, and new donors. mostly or all fellow Knights of Columbus. John was a onetime naval officer, then an civilian information officer with NATO in Afghanistan, where the brain tumor was discovered that took his life.
John was an enthusiastic, funny, charming, self-depracating guy. We thank God for his (too brief) presence among us.
John’s funeral is next Saturday at 2 pm at St.Andrew’s Cathedral.
The Struggle for Life Goes On
Meanwhile the struggle for life goes on. The 40 Days for Life vigil continues outside the abortoire at the corner of Helmken and the Old Island Highway. Daily, unhappy young women, often accompanied by grim boyfriends or mothers, walk stiffly into the bright, cheerful, but fatal, and cruelly misnamed Vancouver Island Women’s Health Centre. Please join Choose Life VIctoria in our prayerful, peaceful and positive vigil across the street. That would be a fitting way to remember John. The Vigil continues till Easter./
